Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOP

Vineyard: Pure Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Territory: Mostly hilly lands facing SouthEast a about 250 metres above sea level. Generally pebbly and medium-textured soils, with low water retention.
Vinification and refining: Generally late harvesting with long on-the-skin maceration in temperature controlled, stainless steel fermentation vessels. Refining in small oak barrels for about 12 months where the malolactic fermentation takes place. Bottle refining for a medium long period.
Alcohol content: 13% vol.
Appearance: Intense ruby red with garnet nuances verging towards orange, more and more present with time.
Bouquet: Intense and lingering perfume of ripe fruit reminiscent of morello cherries, ripe red plums and with liquorice and vanilla hints.
Taste: Dry, savoury, warm, lingering with mature and well balanced tannins.
Serving glass: Burgundy.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C.
Food matchings: Red meat, game, and mature cheeses. Perfect with lamb and kid.
