Colle Moro

The Winery was founded in 1961 in Guastameroli di Frisa by a small group of eager, local vine dressers. Today, after a long and challenging experience, Colle Moro is finally achieving the praise of an ever-growingand demanding public, thanks to the quality of its wine and the passion and tenacity that characterizes its work.

Company

The will to improve

Over more than 50 years of activity, we have constantly developed our skills and professionalism, paying great attention to the changes in our sector and in the consumers’ taste. We aim to continuously improve our products, pursuing a strong and competitive presence on the market.

Sharing our work and its results

According to its articles of association, our Cooperative is a non-profit company; thus, the operating results are used for paying the grapes, distributing the amounts among the partners.

The territory

A mosaic of vineyard

Our company currently consists of about 670 partners who grow vines in 15 different municipalities, with an overall area of about 1,600 hectares that produce an average of 25.000 tons of grapes. These are the wonderful vineyards that cover the territory of Frisa; after being processed with skilfulness and devotion, they produce the great wines of this land.

A sun-kissed land

Our lands and farms have been devoted to vinegrowing for decades, and they naturally produce some of the best grape varieties in the whole Italian territory. The hilly lands, geographical location, and a particularly propitious climate make these grapes typical and enhance their qualities, making Colle Moro products definitely unique.

Wines

Features that improve the taste

The wines produced by Winery Colle Moro maintain the highest quality standards thanks to a few value added production processes: advanced technologies, constant cooperation with agronomists, low incidence of the “vintage” effect on the ripening, respect and enhancement of the organoleptic features of the grapes.

Different villages, different vineyards

The grapes, mainly grown in the municipalities of Frisa, Lanciano, San Vito Chietino, Ortona, Casalbordino and Torino di Sangro, are red (Montepulciano, Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet) and white (Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano
Toscano, Malvasia del Chianti, Chardonnay) as well as some native grape varieties like Moscato di Frisa, Pecorino, Passerina and Cococciola.

Quality

Quality, a strategic target

ASince 1999, Colle Moro has considered quality as a strategic aim to ensure customers’ satisfaction, certifying its production process with all the most modern national and international quality systems. We chose this method to ensure the best quality of the wine we bring to your table.

In the most devoted areas of our hilly range, going from the Adriatic sea to the slopes of the Maiella range, our technical staff – coordinated by the agronomist Maurizio Gily – has selected the vineyards with the highest quality potential. Only the more sensitive contributing partners, willing to follow the indications of the “vinegrowing team” in every season and to sacrifice a significant share of the production for a perfect ripening and consistency of the grapes, are admitted to the Quality Club, a concept that is
not just in words but real facts.

Our certifications

Our quality system has been certified according to the UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 standards, ensuring that the musts and wine are produced according to national and European standards. Moreover, our work is performed respecting the strict rules and regulations for the traceability of the supply chain and in compliance with the standards for the safety and health on the workplaces.

Winery

The house of our wines

The heart of our activity is our winery, an essential place for a wine production that aims at a special place on the table of wine fans. We have paid great attention to the production and ageing aspects, constantly promoting the technological
and structural improvement of the house of our wines.

Technology & Tradition

We are currently equipped with an oak barrel room with an overall capacity of 1,500 hectolitres, a bottling plant that can produce about 1,000,000 bottles per year, a cooling system that can condition and control all the production quality of Colle Moro DOP and IGP wines.
